If I recall in my readings, Crowley visited NH, and supposedly performed some 'magical rituals' somewhere in Bristol, which is not far from Plymouth, where I now work. The rite or ritual was the crucifixion of a frog, of which some photo(s) exist in some books I have on him. I think the year may have been 1947. NH has been, if you don't know it already, a hotbed of 'witchcraft' or WICCA and associated cults, nudist, communist, and pagan.
Aleister Crowley liked to be known as THE GREAT BEAST and I first read of him years ago when, I think, TRUE MAGAZINE ran some articles on various people, most of them written by Daniel Mannix, but I shall have to look that up when I have time. Anyway, I obtained a book on his life which I still have. This book,I think, is by John Symonds, but I shall have to dig this up.

Aleister Crowley has had influence on the direction the occult movement has taken in modern times. For some: a genius, for others a devil. Considerable groups and individuals are identified with Crowley in various ways and degrees, his influence on 'witchcraft' & 'paganism' in particular. Of another interest is his writing on yoga and his mountain climbing exploits, not to mention other facets of the man who delighted in being called, THE GREAT BEAST and who claimed to make children and people into 'devils'.
